Low pressure gas transfer in fibrous media with progressive infiltration: correlation between different transfer modes

Permeation of gases in fibrous preforms C/C composites has been studied with various degrees infiltration, between 60% and 12% pore volume fraction, both experimentally steady-state flow vs. pressure drop experiments numerically X-ray computerized micro-tomography (?-CT), image processing image-based computations. An excellent agreement found for Darcian permeabilities Knudsen diffusivities, when taking the mean solid chord length as a characteristic scale. The reported tendencies mass transfer coefficients porosity are filters literature values, that available fractions above 55%. Accordingly, this work proposes useful extensions these known correlations towards lower values porosity. Infiltration in Porous Media with Dynamic Capillary Pressure: Travelling Waves
We consider a model for non-static groundwater flow where the saturation-pressure relation is extended by a dynamic term. This approach together with a convective term due to gravity, results in a pseudo-parabolic Burgers type equation.
